Technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) programs and robots, may soon take over human-run society.
AI refers to software built with intelligence that allows non-human machines to learn or solve problems.
Technology is rapidly advancing these days and the world of technology is pervading every aspect of human life.
Despite the advancement in technology and the benefits humans gain in society from the support of artificial intelligence, it is feared that humanity will gradually be destroyed by the takeover of AI softwares.
“Emerging technologies, such as industrial robots, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, are advancing at a rapid pace.
These developments can improve the speed, quality, and cost of goods and services, but they also displace large numbers of workers.”
As Darrell M.West uttered, artificial intelligence machines demonstrate superior abilities to those of human beings.
Robots are one such pre-programmed creations that involve AI systems to emulate the human mind and ability to perform tasks.
For instance, in Gimpo Airport, a number of transferable robots were released in February 2018 after a trial run.
These robots show easy access to information such as gate number, one’s location, the weather, etc.
This invention has enhanced the quality of everyday life of all visitors.
However, the fear is that artificial intelligence can take over positions that were originally meant for humans.
According to Futurism.com, “If tech experts are to be believed, artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to transform the world.”
Well known AI support software include Apple’s Siri, Tesla’s Autopilot, and Amazon’s Alexa.
All these digital assistants are widely known. Apple’s Siri was designed to replace the jobs of Apple assistants.
From these examples, it can be ascertained that the growth of AI products is increasing rapidly.
As reported by the Telangana.today.com, “With further experiments being done in the field of AI and Robotics, robots capable of defeating human abilities have emerged, which work more proficiently compared to humans.”
Additionally, there are jobs that are far more suitable for robots instead of humans in the first place.
Dave Waters previously quoted that “the potential benefits of Artificial Intelligence are huge, so are the dangers.”
People have begun to acknowledge the vast possibility of robots as they gradually have taken over jobs that were initially done by humans, leading to unemployment struggles.
Robots are being invented for the purpose of replacing humans in roles such as restaurant deliverers, drivers, receptionists, packagers, and even customer services.
This leads to intensive and fierce competition for work as widespread job losses due to technological advancement leave more humans unemployed.
In the future, society will continuously show extensive jumps in technological advancements, and soon human society may find itself with an uncontrollable problem.
It will cause the majority of humans to rely on technological devices or programs, and humanity will systematically become less involved in participating in society.
