In a few months, Daewon Foreign Language High School will be hosting its 35th Flora festival. FOLA, which stands for Festival of Limitless Adventure, as the name implies, is centralized on diverse performances performed by clubs at Daewon Foreign Language High School. Daewon has at least 30 clubs which are focused on performing their own special shows on stage. These special shows include rap, dancing, band, hip-hop and diverse performances and had grabbed the attention of hundreds of students and parents. Yet, Flora had several technical and practical problems that served as huge obstacles.

First of all, throughout many dances the music stopped numerous times. As a result, some clubs such as the cheerleader club Epic or the Spanish Traditional dance club had to start dancing from the start. Not only that, but the schedule was progressing twenty minutes faster than the original time and many audiences and performers were confused. One evident incident that illustrates the damage can be seen when the American folk dance club was about to dance. Due to the conflict in time schedule, the American folk dance had to share the same preparing room with a cheerleader club called Epic. Hence some of the performers had lost their outfits due to the overcrowding and the performance was performed unnaturally. Most of the performers claimed that the show was horrible and the school should do a better job in regulating the schedule. I myself danced the Jazz dance with my club peers, and we had to repeat our dances over and over again because the music was too cranky.

Yet, there were many acknowledgeable things in FOLA as well. Many students and parents were satisfied by the highly trained performers who showed a good quality show. DMC, the hip-hop club and Muse, the music club had been specifically praised for displaying a very good quality performance. But most of all the fancy dress of the Spanish traditional dance and the French traditional dance were the most exceptional. Combined with very high degree of dancing, the outfit was also outstanding as many audiences claimed that the dances were very artistic and beautiful. The Korean traditional dance as well also had a beautiful outfit which many audiences claimed outstanding.

The upcoming FOLA festival date has not been decided yet, but it will take place in a few months. All of the students are excited about this, and since midterms have finished, many clubs are going through tough practice. Last year, I practiced only Jazz dance for 4 days straight. Nevertheless, despite the hardship, it is the hardship of the training that makes FOLA a meaningful festival. It is such hardship that exists as memory and lives through as the pride of Daewon Foreign Language High School.

Dear Sung-Min

Overall, your essay has a nice conclusion that shows how the FOLA festival was tough but meaningful. Can’t wait for the next FOLA festival! Good luck!
